Alicia Curry

Bereaved Mom and Still Supported Member

April 7, 2022, marked a heartbreaking part of my life - when I lost a part of myself. After three healthy pregnancies, my husband and I faced our first heartbreaking miscarriage. My church recommended The Still Remembered Project, and attending one meeting showed me I was not alone in this grief. However, in June, we found out we were expecting again, only to undergo an emergency D&C on July 18, 2022, due to a partial molar pregnancy. I had to undergo weekly labs to monitor my HCG levels until they returned to zero, which took 5 months. Every month, I looked forward to the support and comfort of the SRP meetings.

In my journey, I delivered two more babies into the arms of Jesus. Over the past four years, I’ve made some truly meaningful friendships. I discovered that you can have your baby cremated at any stage, despite what hospitals might tell you—I learned to advocate for myself. I also realized I wasn’t alone in this journey. The butterfly handkerchiefs in the miscarriage support boxes, often in different colors- mine were all blue, and a blue butterfly became my God winks.

SRP has been an incredible blessing to my family and me. I’ve met so many compassionate people; it truly feels like a family. I treasure my miscarriage boxes because, with early loss, there’s often little to hold onto—those boxes make it feel real and meaningful. I am forever grateful for the entire SRP team and community, whose love and understanding have helped me through some of my darkest days.
