In short about us.

Small things make a big difference.

We believe that God has driven the Still Remembered Project through prayer, faith and hope. We are thankful to support grieving families in our area and build a community of those that desire to remember and honor the lives of their babies.

Our Story

We believe that God has driven the Still Remembered Project through prayer, faith and hope.

In May 2011, Kathy Krchmar, a retired labor and delivery nurse and bereaved grandmother, and Lauren McLean, a bereaved mother whose son passed in March of 2010 due to a rare genetic disease, formed a Christian pregnancy/infant loss support group called Mothers of Angels. Both women had the desire to start a Christian-based support group in South Hills of Pittsburgh, catering to the bereaved mother’s heart while providing a safe place to explore and share grief. Kathy’s and Lauren’s dedication to the mission helped the group grow in the community with support and awareness for pregnancy/infant loss.

Dreaming and thinking about the future….

As the Mothers of Angels support group continued to grow, it was on the heart of Lauren to begin planning for the future. After months of prayer, Lauren reached out to other members of the Mothers of Angels group and asked them to prayerfully consider becoming a nonprofit. Amanda Parker, Marianne Schafer, Melissa Ibella, Pamela McNally Shaw, Joyce Lish and Jason Mclean (Lauren’s husband) made the commitment to form the Board of a Christian-based nonprofit focused on pregnancy infant loss. It was in Lauren and Jason’s living room that The Still Remembered Project’s name and mission was created and the filing for the nonprofit was completed. Each Board member felt God’s calling to this mission and whole-heartily put their energy into transitioning Mothers of Angels, to The Still Remembered Project.

As an outreach project, Remembrance Boxes were donated to local hospitals labor and delivery units and NICUS. The goal of the boxes were to gift the newly bereaved mother (and family) with hand-crafted items as memories of their dear baby and begin the grieving journey. Each of the items were made by bereaved moms of the Mothers of Angels support group.

The Still Remembered Project was founded on April 21st 2016. Since then, the organization gained 501(c)(3) nonprofit status and have been tirelessly working to build a nonprofit from the ground up. During this transition, The Still Remembered Project continued to donate Memory Boxes and has formed a variety of projects focused on different sectors within pregnancy infant loss and the grief journey, staying steadfast in raising awareness and breaking the silence of pregnancy/infant loss.

While the organization is Christian-based, the hope is to support any and all families that are open to our love and resources.

The Board of bereaved mothers and fathers, continues to pray for Gods guidance in each step and looks forward to seeing what He has in store for The Still Remembered Project in the Pittsburgh area and beyond.

Make a Difference

We Believe...

We believe that God creates every life, and intimately knows each one. Regardless of the duration of that life, whether one lives only in the womb or is welcomed into the world, each one makes an impact on those around him or her. Therefore, we remember and celebrate each miracle of life of these children created by God that are now in His loving care.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.” – Psalm 139:13-16

God understands the pain of losing a child, as He gave His Son, Jesus, to be the perfect sacrifice for the sin that plagues us. It is excruciatingly painful. Life has these seasons of pain and heartache. In these seasons, God promises to be a companion, wrapping us who mourn in His love. We find comfort and peace in His truth.“

Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” – Psalm 23:4
