Michele Riggio

Still Supported Project Lead

I lost my son Dean in 2000. I never had the chance or the ability to grieve our loss. Back then, you couldn’t talk about pregnancy/infant loss.

My involvement in the Still Supported group and representing SRP at events has given me opportunity to finally be able to share my story after so many years of silence. The community has brought me through many dark places. I have loved being a part of SRP’s mission and journey from the start in helping other moms who have felt the same way. We should never feel ashamed or uncomfortable because we want to say our baby’s names to honor and remember them.

I have loved getting to know so many moms and share in the grief journeys. I’m honored to be a part of SRP and bring awareness to our communities.

The Still Remembered Project Garden

I’m honored to have brought this project to life and continue to watch it grow! Creating the SRP garden has been so therapeutic for me and others who don’t have a space to go for our babies! We have brought it from shrubs and thorns to beauty! We have remembrances all throughout the garden! Our babies names, flowers we have planted, a bench donated by one of our moms- for others to go and reflect or pray or just sit quietly and find time from the busy world to remember our babies!

It has brought joy to so many moms and the community has really been affected by it! They love seeing us out there cleaning, making the space beautiful for our neighborhood!
