Bereaved Mother

My experience with SRP is one of the greatest of gratitudes.  My loss of my son Edward reaches back to 2007 when we were limited on items we could give in a memory box. I collected many things myself and from my fellow labor and delivery nurse friends, but there could always be something more. There were no support groups in the area either so reaching out to other fellow mothers of loss was impossible and social media was in its beginning stages.  As a nurse, we would sit at the nurses' station and sponge paint shoe boxes and collect sea shells on our vacations to be able to supply our loss families with a special memory box and items.

Then, one blessed year-2016, my friend and fellow bereaved mother, Lauren, decided to change all of our lives forever.  There was The Still Remembered Project!  There was a support group!  There were events that my kids could attend that celebrated their big brother's life!  There were gorgeous boxes, sibling, and miscarriage kits, blankets, hats, gowns, and books that I could give to my grieving patients!! We no longer had to struggle to paint and gather items to make a memory box. And we didn't have to have bake-sales to afford these items. This was the greatest blessing of all. I had a place for my grieving mothers to go if they needed a support system. This was more valuable than anything.    Since then, I have attended events, fundraisers, craft days, and have met the most amazing women who make perinatal loss their passion in order to touch lives. I am honored to have met these women and call them friends.  Lauren is an angel, disguised as a human, walking this earth who has made the biggest impact and touch so many lives in the community of perinatal loss.  She and her amazing team have been giving a voice to a silent loss.  We need to keep the voice going, keep the community going, keep the support going. This is one of the only ways to survive a grief journey is to find your love and support.  It is so important to know that we are not alone.  I wish I could find the words that could adequately express my gratitude for SRP, my love and admiration for Lauren McLean and my appreciation for her team over these past 10 years.

I truly believe that we are here earth-side to learn as much as we can, especially about love and God's love, to live out the legacies of our babies who were too beautiful for earth-side, and to touch as many lives as possible before we are called Home.   The passion of everyone is this program gave way to each of them touching so many lives over these years. Thank you for teaching us about love, thank you for helping us live out our children's legacies, and thank you for touching so many lives.

I love you all forever.
